Speaker: Shawn Miller
Shawn is originally from Chicago Illinois but has lived in Idaho for nearly 50years. He came to Pocatello in 1968 to attend Idaho State University.
He received his Master's Degree in Aquatic Biology studyingthe Caddis Fly Hydropsyche Occidentalis aka spotted sedgein Curlew Valley Idaho. It was during that time in Pocatello that Shawn wasintroduced to fly fishing; catching his first trout on the Portneuf river using aWilson convertible spinning/fly rod and a 30 cent fly bought at the local drugstore. He soon learned about the Island Park country and the Fort Hallreservation waters.
In 1973 Shawn moved to McCall and began a love affair with the high mountain lakes in the area. He has fished over 30 lakes in the area in the last 40 + years.
Shawn is a Life member of Trout Unlimited and was one of the founders of the Reed Gillespie chapter and it's first chapter President.
He has also served as the State Council Chair of Idaho Trout Unlimited. Whilecouncil chair Idaho TU started a statewide Trout in the Classroom project that still exists today. Shawn has developed his own flies for fishing the mountain lakes.
He currently owns Weller Miller Financial Services in McCall providing Life Health and investment advice and products to clients in McCall, Boise, and Northern and Eastern Idaho.
