BT’s Fly Tying Friday – 17 October 2025 – 6 PM MDT, Al Beatty Tying two versions of a Wonder Walker
We’ll look back to the last BT’s FTF of the early 2025 season when we tied the Frank Johnson Water Walker. Until now, we considered it the best dry fly ever developed for Western waters. With inspiration from four people, we THINK our variation will quickly become the NEW BEST PATTERN to imitate a mayfly dun. Our version will offer Wonder Wings with a parachute hackle around each. It’s a challenge to tie, but Al thinks “pushing his skills” is fun. You’ll have to decide after you see our presentation whether you agree. The WEEKLY TIP remains the wing support shared over the last weeks, only used differently. If we have time, we’ll gather tips from viewers via the SHARING section; we’ll have to determine that based on the time and Al’s energy level. If we don’t have time, please save your tips for future episodes of FTF because we all really want to see what you have to offer.
